29 Jun Faces of Children of Hope | Meet Rose
As part of a new initiative to connect the Children of Hope family from around the world with what is happening in our two homes in Kenya, we are beyond excited to start sharing a monthly spotlight for you to meet some of our kids, aunties, community members and more! Our hope is that through these stories, we’ll be able to come together and celebrate as one.
For this first spotlight, we want to feature our beloved Rose!
It’s no surprise that one of the greatest treasures that can be found in the Kikuyu home is Rose’s smile. This jovial and confident 10-year-old girl with an immense heart of gold enjoys both indoor and outdoor activities – especially when there are dolls involved! Rose is a natural leader and smaller children look up to her since she likes to organize games and make everyone feel included, especially the kids with special needs. Rose makes us incredibly proud and she has become a great example for the other children.
In school, Rose does exceptionally well in every subject. Her teachers say that she is incredibly hardworking and approaches situations with joy and determination. Her positivity is felt in the classroom and she provides a sense of solace for her teachers and classmates. Rose gets a big chuckle when she tries to teach American volunteers basic Swahili. She will take the time to repeat the words, follow up with a quiz (that nobody expects) and this surprise ends up being her favorite moment.
Rose is very connected to God and loves to sing along to bible verses – it warms our hearts to hear her voice! At night, she enjoys facilitating and leading the other kids through prayer before bedtime.
It is because of donors like you that kids like Rose are able to flourish and become the best they can be. We’re incredibly blessed that Rose has not had any health complications.
