About Us

Since 2003, Children of Hope® has provided love, family, education, and a home to orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children in Kenya. We support them through college and encourage them as they transition into independent adulthood.

Our History

1993 - 2007

The vision for Children of Hope was born. With four biological children of their own, John and Sharna Coors adopted six children of varying ethnicities into their hearts and family.

2003 - 2007

John and Sharna traveled to Kenya and were exposed to the extreme heartbreak of orphaned children there. They became deeply involved in the growth and support of a home caring for orphaned and abandoned children in the Nairobi area.

2007

Called by God to do more, John and Sharna founded Children of Hope. Their vision was to build a home where children would be well cared for.

2008 - 2009

Working with a local friend, the Coors chose a rural community whose orphaned children were in the most need of help. Ten acres of land were purchased, architectural plans were drawn up, and construction began on the first home.

December 2010

The Kitalale Home opened its doors and welcomed the first five children with open arms.

2014

Another children’s home in Kikuyu was officially adopted by Children of Hope and became a second home in the Children of Hope family.

Present Day

About 100 children are currently being well cared for and loved thanks to the two Children of Hope homes.
