Our Kikuyu Home

We welcome both boys and girls into our home, most of them coming to us under the age of 5. We have a larger home that houses a kitchen and common gathering areas, and behind this home, we have our boys’ cottages for boys aged 10 and over, in line with Kenyan tradition. Everyone else is in the smaller, supervised family-style cottages.

Our Kikuyu home sits on 50 acres of picturesque land on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city, with over three million people. The area surrounding our home has many hills and valleys and being at a higher elevation we experience cooler temperatures at night and during the winter months.

Children of Hope® contributes to the community by providing caregiver, agricultural, and livestock jobs to the people within the local community, and even have beautiful rental cottages available (for church retreats, family reunions, etc). We want to work with and be a blessing to our local community.

Our Kikuyu Children

Our Kikuyu Family Life

Our home is a haven of hope, peace, and love, where children can lay their heads down in safety. Surrounded by their family of brothers and sisters, and ‘aunties’ and ‘uncles’ they can enjoy a secure, happy childhood. Our home in Kikuyu provides all the essentials for the well-being, growth, and development of our children. Our mission is to care for and nurture each child who comes to us as we would our very own. The caregivers, known as, ‘aunties’ and ‘uncles,’ and the children share meals, laughter, stories and chores, and enjoy full physical and emotional healthcare, comprehensive education, safe shelter, spiritual guidance and lots of love.

Kikuyu Rental Cottages

Looking for a get-away? We have beautiful guest cottages and grounds that are available for hire. This area would be a lovely setting for individual and group retreats, weddings, and for the more adventurous, camping. There is a kitchen, where we can prepare meals for you, or for your use if you would like to cook meals on your own. All proceeds from the cottages and grounds will be used to support the children in our Kikuyu home.
