This month you have been receiving some emails about the 24 kids we have in college, university, and trade school. We thought you might like to hear from 2 of them.

George is a friendly, outgoing, engaging young man who is in his first year of university, studying IT. He has been in our Kikuyu home since he was just two months old. When the aunties hold these children as tiny babies, it’s hard to image that they will quickly grow to be young adults, but that is exactly what happens. George is already 6’ 2” and can easily dunk a basketball.
You won’t want to miss George’s amazing smile, his heartfelt thanks, along with a hope for his future. Just click below to watch the video.

Serah Maria also came to our Kikuyu home as a baby and was actually one of the first children at our home. She is now starting her 4th year of university – studying pharmacy. In Kenya, pharmacists function kind of like our primary care physicians – seeing patients, evaluating their needs, and prescribing medicine. This is a challenging degree, but Serah is doing very well. She makes frequent visits home, and all the kids love connecting with her.
In the video below, you will hear Serah share how her brothers and sisters often remind her that she is not alone and how she has learned to trust in God.
There is still time to join in supporting our college kids.

Uncle Martin Simotwo Kigai is a security guard at our Kitalale home. In his role he protects not only the compound, but more importantly our children and staff. He has been working at Children of Hope for the past 15 years.
“Thank you, Martin, for your unwavering support. We’ve seen your efforts bear fruit as you continue to safeguard the home, not only providing safety to the children but loving them and welcoming them into your family. It means a lot to us.” ~ Abraham Kiboki

In Martin’s Words
Since I started working here at Children of Hope, God is blessing me in so many ways that I don’t even have the words to explain it. Not just me, but my family as well.
I am married and have six children, my firstborn is in college, and my second born will enter college next year. My other children are all progressing well at school.

Being a security guard doesn’t mean I just watch the gate all day. I spend time with the kids and love investing in their lives. I enjoy teaching them about the Bible and especially sharing Bible stories. I use the Bible to advise them in the way to conduct themselves at school and when doing their studies. I share the Word of God with them and teach them to depend on God in everything they do.
In addition to my security duties, I enjoy gardening where I keep the hedges and tree-lined fences trimmed and neat and I also take care of general maintenance around the home. I really love to sing and play the guitar. It is my joy and honor to lead worship at our monthly staff meetings.

~ Thank you, Martin, so much for the time and dedication you have given to our home. We sure appreciate your late nights making sure all things are safe, and your love for the children. You have such a warm smile that matches your heart. May you continue to be blessed abundantly.
