It has been a long time coming, but the redesigned home we have been building on our existing land in Kikuyu is complete!!
The dedication of our new home was held on June 28, 2026, and it was a time of joyful celebration! Our children and aunties and uncles were present, along with many of our grown, independent kids and members of our church family. Everyone joined together to celebrate what the Lord has done!
Kenyan celebrations are filled with dancing, singing, presentations from the children, lots of yummy food, heartfelt smiles, and fellowship!
It’s truly like a little taste of heaven!
The home is set up like a horseshoe, with everyone in the same space – this encourages togetherness and connection. In addition to the new building, we have a new basketball court, soccer field, outside eating area, and even new playground equipment!
The home is complete, but the bunkbeds and furnishings are not yet assembled. That’s ok though, because there will be another fun day to anticipate in August – moving day! Can you imagine how eager the children must be as they prepare to arrange and organize their new rooms?
In moving forward, we also want to look back. We want to remember the two cottages that were home to so many babies who found love, healing, and family there, maybe for the very first time. The names of these cottages were “Amani” (Peace) and “Milele” (Forever). So, for the new home, we combined the names of these older cottages into one name that is perfect: “Amani Milele” – Peace Forever.
You can see the joy and excitement on the faces of the children – the little ones for sure, but the big ones as well! When each child moves into their new room, they will know that they are especially cared for and loved by their aunties and uncles, our family of supporters, and also by the Lord Almighty who says in Isaiah 32:18, “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”

At Children of Hope, tribal difference is not an issue. Uncle Joseph shares that CoH is a very good environment where all of our staff have love and unity in Christ Jesus. This allows everyone to work together in harmony with the goal of caring for and loving the children.

It is my honor and privilege to look after the children, the home, and the whole compound. I make sure everything is secure and that the children stay safe. I stay alert on the night shift and patrol the land, making certain there is nothing that can endanger our CoH family.

I really love all the children here at our home. They are kind, well-behaved, and loving. I think that comes from the fact that they feel safe and secure, not just because there is security at the home, but more importantly because of the sincere love and commitment they feel from our aunties and uncles. Connecting with the children is such an important part of my job and Elijah is a special young man to me. He spends a lot of time with the security officers. He seems to enjoy the things we do in our job, things like caring for the sheep, cows, and patrolling the compound. He is always so friendly and helpful – I really enjoy having him around.
Children are a blessing from God. I would like to tell everybody that we shall love these children because each and every child is a gift. We will love them, care for them, parent them, teach them responsibility, and raise them up in the name of Jesus. Here, they get to have their own things, their own bed, and their own joy. They also have many opportunities to be successful. We provide a place that allows them to thrive, grow, and become what God created them to be.
When I am not working at CoH, I enjoy laughing, taking walks, and reading my Bible. I tend to notice things that might be out of order and enjoy bringing them back to order, like pruning the bushes or tidying up. I like to take the initiative to make things look nice.
